Walter F. Kovac

WALTER F. KOVAC, 87, of Clinton, died in the comfort of his home with family at his side on Monday morning, June 1, 2015.

Born December 12, 1927, in Aliquippa, he was the last surviving child born to the late John and Valeria (Herda) Kovach. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Corporal post World War II and Korea.  He was a teacher at the Baltimore County Public School System.  A passion for wrestling, he coached and refereed for 30 years in Baltimore County.  He was also an avid chess player.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Emmalu Elizabeth (McMichael) Kovac, who passed on October 18, 2014; a son, Kurt Kovac; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Alison Kovac; and a sister, Helen Kovac Schuster.

Surviving are his children, Jill Newdick, Daniel Kovac and Amy Kovac; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, on Friday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until preceding to the Clinton United Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m., where his services will be held at 11 a.m..

He will be laid to rest with his wife at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Memorials, if desired, may be made in his name to one’s favorite charity.
