Cathy H. Peterson

CATHY H. PETERSON, 59, of Clinton (Hanover Twp.), died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, November 29, 2016 in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh.

Born June 26, 1957, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the beloved daughter of Stella Mae (Misner) Harasty of Vintondale, Pa., and the late Michael Harasty. A homemaker and artist, Cathy was an avid animal lover, especially horses, having taught English dressage.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Jay A. Peterson, whom she wed November 27, 1980; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Janet Harasty, Vintondale, Pa., and a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Joe Marines, Alva, Florida. A niece and seven nephews also survive. She was the daughter-in-law of James Peterson of New Holland, PA., and his late wife, June Peterson.

A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. in the Moody Funeral Home, Route 30, Clinton. Services will be private.

Memorials in her name may be made to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Mary S. Block

MARY S. BLOCK, age 73, of Hopewell Twp. (formerly of Clinton), died Friday afternoon, November 25, 2016 at Heritage Valley Sewickley.

Born March 9, 1943 in Sewickley, she was a daughter of the late Giovanni Battista and Mary Stella (Zannino) Calipari. A homemaker, Mary had attended the Clinton Wesleyan Church, and more recently St. Josephs Catholic Church of Coraopolis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter P. Block on April 30, 2000 and a sister Rosie Galliher. Surviving are her sons, Tim, Mark, Dave, and John Block; a brother, Vince Calipari; her sisters Julie Collins, and JoAnn Lewandowski. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received Monday from 2-8 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home, Route 30, Clinton where her services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., Rev. Ted Chapman of the Clinton Wesleyan Church officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

Memorials in her name can be made to the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Association.

Thomas B. Craig, Sr.

THOMAS B. CRAIG, SR., age 81, of Imperial died unexpectedly on November 19, 2016.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy K. Craig; dear father of Thomas B., Jr., Daniel R., Susan L. Smith, and Donna J. Gessner; brother of Kenneth Craig, Peggy Wilson, Carol Keller, and Barbara Noyes, and the late Donald, David, Francis, and William Craig; grandfather of seven; great-grandfather of one.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m..

 

Michael E. Mixter, Sr.

MICHAEL E. MIXTER, SR., age 71, of Imperial (North Fayette Twp.), died suddenly on November 1, 2016.

He was the beloved son of Dorothy (Giacobine) and the late Samuel Mixter; beloved husband of 48 years to Judith A. (Kovach) Mixter; dearest father of Michael Mixter, Jr., Virginia Freeman, Charla Crawford and the late John Mixter; brother of Samuel Mixter, Kathy Stevens and the late Kenneth Mixter. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, Friday from 4-8 p.m. where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

Cremation will follow and burial will take place in the Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

 

Robert C. Toner

ROBERT C. TONER, age 86, of Clinton, died on October 22, 2016.

Husband of the late Ethel M. (Brethauer) Toner; beloved father of Victoria and John Lipovsik, Kathleen Bowen and fiance, Brian Lenz, Debra and Michael Russell, and Louis and Patty Bonasorte and the late Michael Bonasorte and Carolyn Bonasorte; also surviving are two sisters, Betty Jean Colaianni and Mary Alice Stasik; preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters; also 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will take place. His remains will be laid to rest in the Clinton U.P. Church Cemetery.

Phyllis W. Miller

PHYLLIS W. MILLER, age 82 of Moon Twp., died unexpectedly on October 12, 2016.

She was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late George W. “Puppy” Miller, Jr., who died April 19, 2014.

She was also preceded in death by a son, George W. Miller, III and a daughter, Sharon Gertz. Surviving are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Cremation will take place and entombment will follow along with her husband’s cremains in the National Cemetery of the the Alleghenies.  Services are private.

Harriett Ann Anderson

HARRIETT ANN ANDERSON, 80, of Clinton, died peacefully Monday morning, October 3, 2016 at her daughter’s residence in Martinsville, Ind.

Born October 9, 1935, in Sewickley, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth Rardin and Virginia McDonald. She worked as an administrator with housekeeping in a number of hospitals throughout the area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Donald Anderson.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Margaret Ann Cox, Catherine Adell and her late husband Matthew Littell, Barbara Diane and her husband Ken Plance, David and his wife Bonnie Anderson, and Donna and her husband Dave Shaffer; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Gloria Rardin; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchidren

Private graveside services will be held Friday, October 7, 2016, at the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

 

Heather A. Moore

HEATHER A. MOORE, 42, of Hookstown, died suddenly on Monday, September 19, 2016, while in Charleston, WV.

Born August 1, 1974, in Pittsburgh, she was the beloved daughter of Dennis J. and Barbara A. (Reber) Finnegan of Clinton. Dearest wife of 14 years to James T. Moore, Jr., whom she married May 11, 2002, she was the beloved mother of Makayla A. Moore, Lynnsie A. Moore and James T. Moore III, all at home, and her stepsons, Zack Moore of New Brighton and Thomas James Moore of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are a sister, Denise Finnegan of Hookstown, and a niece, Isabella “Bella” Finnegan of Hookstown.

Friends will be received Friday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, where parting prayers will be offered Saturday at 9:15 a.m., with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, Imperial.

She will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to help defray costs or to a family fund.

Loretta Jean Moore

LORETTA JEAN MOORE, 78, of Imperial (Findlay Twp.) died unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, August 26, 2016.

Born September 6, 1937 in Canton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Daniel & Betty (Brenner) Yoder.

A homemaker, she was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Findlay Twp., where she served as a deaconess and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved traveling with her husband on their many missionary trips.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James P. Moore,on April 16, 2011 and a brother, Robert Yoder. Surviving are her children, Joseph J. Moore, Timothy and his wife LuAnn Moore, Benjamin Moore and Tina J. Moore; her brothers Daniel (Marion) Yoder and Paul (Debbie) Yoder; her sisters Leoda Yoder, Marie Yenchik, and Ann Liesch; her six grandchildren, and her two great grandchildren. Also numerous nieces and nephews survive.

Visiting hours will be Monday from 11 a.m. until her services are held at 1 p.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ, 57 Moore Rd., Imperial, PA 15126. Robert Buffington, Jr. will officiate. Private interment will follow in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

James E.”Ozzie” Osborne

JAMES E. “Ozzie” Osborne, age 92, of Clinton, died unexpectedly, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in Martinsburg, WV.

Born August 16, 1923, in South Heights, he was the last surviving child born to the late William and Mary (Cumashot) Osborne. He was a member of the Clinton United Presbyterian Church and had worked as a lifelong carpenter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Osborne in 2001; a brother, Glenn Osborne; and two sisters, Lois Mikula and Jean Barth.  Surviving are his children and their spouses, James and Bobbie Osborne of Moon Twp. and Janie and Dave Silbor of Bunker Hill, WV; a granddaughter and her husband, Heather and Tom Sosebee; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaylee, and Cameron Sosebee.

Family and friends are welcome to attend his memorial service Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Clinton United Presbyterian Church, his pastor, the Reverend Laura Strauss officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Clinton United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
