David E. Brown

DAVID E. BROWN, 91, of Clinton (Findlay Twp.) passed peacefully Friday morning, December 17, 2021 while residing with his son.

Born February 23, 1930 in Glenfield, PA., he was a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Marriot) Brown. A retired Quality Control Inspector with Duquesne Light Co., Dave was a veteran serving in Korea with the US Air Force, a member of the Clinton Wesleyan Church and a former member of the Hookstown American Legion and the Coraopolis VFW. He was also a member of the Oakdale Masonic Lodge #669 F & AM.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca A. Cain in 1983 and sisters, Doris Brown, Ann Brown, Eleanor Craig, and Esther Mateer, and his daughter-in-law, Charleen Brown.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Millie L. “Jo” (Lowe) Brown, whom he wed on January 12, 1953; his son, Stephen D. Brown; and a sister, Laura Craig. Grandfather of 5 and great grandfather of 10.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MOODY FUNERAL HOME 1227 Route 30, Clinton on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8, where his service will be held Wednesday at 11 am. Rev. Ted Chapman of the Clinton Wesleyan Church will officiate.

Private interment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Ruth E. Rizor

RUTH E. RIZOR, 71, of Clinton (Independence Twp.) a die hard Steelers fan, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, December 7, 2021 in the comfort of her home. Born December 15, 1949 in McKees Rocks, she was one of twelve children born to the late Martin and Dorothy Ann (Crowley) Murin.

Beloved mother of Brian (Elizabeth) Rizor and Melissa Shergi. Her surviving siblings are Bob (Mary) Murin, Jim (Anise) Murin, Diane (Albert) DeSalvo, and Mary Jane (Jay) Kirkpatrick. Grandmother of 4: Thomas Shergi, Tanner Shergi, Abigail Rizor, and Mandy Shergi. Great grandmother of 2: Maxwell and Kolten.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2022.

Nellie M. Runyan

NELLIE M. RUNYAN, 79, of Clinton on November 18, 2021.

Daughter of the late Charles Roy and Katherine (Weaver) Helmick. Beloved wife of Harold D. Runyan, Sr. Mother of Elizabeth Dillon, Joyce (Ted) Forrester and Wayne (Teresa) Runyan. Grandmother of five: Nichole, Shawnee, Alan, Taylor, and Logan. Great grandmother of four: Allie, Trent, Elizabeth, and Hope. Sister of the late Fred, Lee, and Clarence Helmick, and Agnes Kennedy.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, 1227 Route 30, Clinton on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of her service at 1 pm. Rev. Ted Chapman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

Mabel P. Wilson

MABEL P. WILSON, age 90, originally from Findlay Township, died at Apple Blossom Senior Living, Moon Township, PA on November 10, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Wilson; and sisters, Elsie Boustead, Edna Blanche Purdy, and Fannie Penberthy.

Beloved mother of Paul (Carol) Wilson, Susan (Dan) Mulholland, Patty Wilson, and Sherri (Jim) Mason. Cherished grandmother of Lori, Lisa, Marian, Teresa, Patrick, Brigid, Clare, Peter, and Mark.

Mabel graduated from West Allegheny High School in 1950. She was a homemaker, and was employed by West Allegheny Schools as a baker. She was an active member of Clinton United Presbyterian Church all of her life, where she sang in the choir, was a deacon for 4 years, and was a member of the Clinton prayer shawl group. Her hobbies included: gardening, crocheting, and quilting. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Findlay Seniors, and Raccoon Women’s Garden Club. She delivered Meals-On-Wheels, loved her TV and candy, and enjoyed family gatherings.

A memorial service will be held in the Spring, with the date to be determined later. Memorial donations may be sent to either Gallagher Foundation (Hospice), 1370 Washington Pike, Suite 401B, Bridgeville, PA 15017, or to Clinton United Presbyterian Church, 25 Wilson Road, Clinton, PA 15026.

Carol A. (Rabich) Toogood

CAROL A. (RABICH) TOOGOOD, 80, of Clinton, passed away on November 3, 2021. Born February 7, 1941 in Maple Heights, Ohio, she grew up in Linesville, Pa., and was preceded in death by her parents, George and Arletta (Guisey) Rabich, and her brother, Gordon.

Beloved wife of Bradford Toogood and loving mother of five children: Linda (Terry), Stanley (Karen), Laurie (Robert), Steve (Michelle), Scott (Viola); stepchildren, Alicia (Kevan) and Victor. Adored by eight grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Carol worked for many years serving others. She was well known for her love of sewing, gardening, and canning. She had been a member of the Christian Mothers at St. Columbkille and decades member of the Raccoon Women’s Club. Laughing was her favorite pastime and she shared joy with all those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, paying forward a good deed and a smile in Carol’s memory will serve the world well.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, 1227 Route 30, Clinton on Saturday from 11 am until the time of her service at 1 pm. She will be laid to rest in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

Richard Albert Speer

RICHARD ALBERT SPEER, 80, of Clinton, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 22, 1940 in Weirton, WV, the son of the late Ross and Marion Speer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Speer and son Richard (Ricky) Speer.

Richard proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise CVN 65 from 1960-1964.

In 1981, Richard fell in love with Merna Riley and together they created a family. After retiring from Nova Chemical in 1999, he continued to serve his community. He drove the Fire Truck for Independence Fire Station 80, where he also served as Vice President. He was Scout Leader at Troop 407. He was President at Best Friends, an organization to help physically disable facing lifelong challenges and a proud member of VFW 77141 American Legion. Richard completed countless beautiful cross stiches over the years and enjoyed camping and fishing.

Surviving are the love of his life, Merna Riley; daughters, Sherry Blackwood (Steve); Amy Medvid (John); Michelle Boyle; Patricia Goodwin (John IV); Sandy Deguel (Jerry); Betty Delp; son, Patrick Riley (Emily); and brothers Ross (Skip) Speer (Lois); Roger Speer (Wendy); nineteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, October 25, 2021 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Moody Funeral Home, 1227 Route 30, Clinton, PA 15026 where his service will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 11 am. Pastor Ted J. Chapman of the Clinton Wesleyan Church will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery to provide military honors at 12 noon.

Jane M. Sanko

JANE M. SANKO, 72, of Hermitage, formerly of Clinton, died Wednesday evening, October 6, 2021 in the comfort of her home with family at her side. Born January 18, 1949 in Sewickley, she was a daughter of the late Robert K. and Mary A. (Beers) Malone.

Jane was a former member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church and was a retired Sr. Tech Specialist with FedEx.

She was the beloved mother of Wayne (Stephanie) Mros Jr., Jeannette (Paul) Rush, and Michael Sanko Jr.; Sister of Bobby (Gracie) Malone, and Marty (Susie) Malone; Grandmother of 5, great grandmother of 1.

The family will receive friends in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, 1227 Route 30, Clinton on Saturday for a brief visitation from 11-12. Her service will be at noon on Saturday.

Jane will be laid to rest in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery, Imperial, PA.

Jean Ann Phillips

JEAN ANN PHILLIPS, 100, of Aliquippa (Hopewell Twp.). It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

She was born May 3, 1921 in McKees Rocks, a daughter of the late David and Elsie (Utz) Beck. She was the beloved wife of over 75 years to the late Fred Phillips. mother of the late Fred James Phillips, Betty Lasky, and Sarah Phillips.

She is survived by her four grandchildren; Lawrence Lasky, Chad Phillips, Lori Herrly, and Adam Phillips, and her six great grandchildren: Raquel Phillips, Ana Cristina Phillips, Mark Herrly, Rianna Lasky, Christy Lasky, and Julie Lasky.

Her services will be held Thursday, September 9th at 11 am in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, 1227 Route 30, Clinton.

We will miss you, and celebrate your 100 years of touching lives with kindness, love and dedication. We love you Grandma.

James J. Gardner

JAMES J. GARDNER, 78, of Carnegie on Friday, August 13, 2021.

Husband of the late Betty A. Gardner, father of Rebecca Jo (John) King, and Frank (Erin) Gardner. Brother of Ronald (Marlene) Gardner and John (Cathy) Gardner, and the late Ellen (Fred) Paul. Grandfather of Johnny and Michael King, and Kaylee and Jack Gardner.

Jim was a retired laborer with local #1058.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, 1227 Route 30, Clinton on Sunday, August 15 from 4-8 pm only where a blessing service will be held Monday at 10 am. He will be laid to rest in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

Mary Lou Graynor

MARY LOU (SALLADE) GRAYNOR, 74, formerly of Clinton, PA., died at Corner View Nursing, Frankstown Rd., Pittsburgh, PA. on Saturday, August 7, 2021.

Born July 21, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Edward S. and Lucille (Garren) Sallade. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Kim Tustin.

All arrangements are private, and she will be laid to rest in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.
