Anne E. Swogger

ANNE E. SWOGGER, 89, of Clinton, died Monday morning, December 16, 2013 at the West Hills Health and Rehab Center, Moon Twp.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Talbert R. Swogger on August 4, 2010; and her dear grandson, James E. Adams on March 11, 2013.

She is survived and will be missed by her children, Eleanor (Ed) Adams, Chambers (Beth) Weikel, and Darla (Tim) Carson; also survived are granddaughter, Jenine (Denny) Lawton and great-grandchildren, Shea and Owen Lawton. She will also be missed by her best friend, Susanne McCoy.

Donations in her name, if desired, may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Broadhead Rd., Aliquippa, PA 15001.

The family would like to thank the staff at West Hills Health and Rehab Center for all their loving care.

All services are private.

Theresa A. Swiridow

THERESA A. SWIRIDOW, 97, of Imperial, Findlay Twp., passed away on December 13, 2013.

Beloved wife of the late Theodore Swiridow; dearest mother of John (Darlene) Johovic, Helenann (Al) Gearhart Sandra T. Peirallini, Brenda (Burt) Johnson, and Larry Swiridow; sister of Margaret McCarthy, Elizabeth Logan, Julia Kliment, and the late Joseph Szigetti; beloved grandmother of Brian (Debbie) Carnegie, Theresa L. Carnegie, Tracy Johovic, Stephanie (Darran) Nagle, Steve (Joanna) Meadows, Theresa (Wayne) Monse, Michael Meadows, and the late John Johovic; also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m.

Nettie Elizabeth (Hamilton) Prosser

NETTIE ELIZABETH (HAMILTON) PROSSER, 101, a lifelong resident of Clinton, went home to be with her Lord, on Saturday morning, November 9, 2013, at Concordia of the South Hills, after a month long illness.

Mrs. Prosser was born September 17, 1912 n Clinton, a daughter of the late Robert Erwin and Laura B. (Wilson) Hamilton.

An alumni of Finley High school, class of 1930, she attended Duffs-Iron City College to prepare as a secretary.  Her first job was as a bookkeeper for her Uncle John Wilson’s Chevy dealership in Clinton. Then she worked as a secretary for an Ambridge Chevy dealership, where she met her husband, Phillip Prosser, whom she married on June 20, 1958.  She and her husband were the owners and operators of a gift and watch repair shop from their home in Clinton, where she served as a notary public for 60 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip; her sisters, Helen Gordon and Louise Purdy; her brothers, Robert and Wilson Hamilton; two nephews, Charles and Gary Hamilton; a niece, Virginia Semans; and stepchildren, David Prosser and Kathleen Ripper.

Mrs. Prosser is survived by two nephews, Randy and his wife, Barbara Hamilton, and Robert Hamilton, all of Rochester, NY; two nieces, Cheryl McDonough of MN and Sue Ellen Purdy Hamilton of Grove City; five step-grandchildren, Jim and his wife, Candice Ripper, Cindy and her husband Jeff Split, Judy Ripper, Wayne and his wife Ruth Prosser, and Marilyn Montgomery; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, five great-nieces, ten great-great-nephews; her good friends, Kay Bonnaure, Raine Cool and Rita Geier.

Nettie was a lifelong member of the Clinton United Presbyterian Church, having been baptized as an infant, and a communicant member since age 12.

Nettie will be remembered for her generous nature and non-udgemental attitude toward others.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Everyone is asked to meet at the Clinton United Presbyterian Church Thursday, where her services will be held at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

John C. ‘Jack’ Kopp

JOHN C. ‘JACK’ KOPP, 86, of Clinton (Independence Twp.), died Friday morning, November 1, 2013, in the comfort of his home, with family at his side.

Born May 28, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John R. and Malinda (Bauman) Kopp, he had worked as a welder in the manufacturing industry and was a veteran of the U.S. army, serving as a PFC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jay C. Kopp, on July 6, 2011.

Surviving are his wife, June (Musgrave) Kopp; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Kopp and Jodi Fansmith-Kopp, Raccoon Twp; four sisters, Arline Howells, Betty Keating, Ruth Capogreca, and Jo Ann Leech; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kopp, Katherine Rizer, and Jay Daniel Kopp; eight great-grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Paul “Bud” Musgrave.

Friends will be received Saturday, November 9, 2013, from 12 noon until the time of services at 4 p.m. in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton.  The Rev. Keith Black will officiate.

Entombment will take place in Hopewell Hebron Cemetery Columbarium.

Mary Arlene Malone

MARY ARLENE MALONE, 87, of Hanover Twp., died Thursday morning, October 24, 2013, with family at her side in the comfort of her home.

Born February 8, 1926, in McKees Rocks, she was the beloved daughter of the late Cora (Elkin) Beers.  A homemaker, Mrs. Malone was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church.

Surviving is her husband of 70 years, Robert K. Malone Sr.; the couple was married December 19, 1942.  Also surviving are her children and their spouses, Robert K. Jr. and his wife Gracie Malone of Imperial, Martin W. and his wife Suzie Malone of Meadville, and Jane Sanko of Hanover Twp.: seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Delcie Kinter and Margaret Hadden.

Family and friends are welcome to call Sunday from 12-3 and 6-8 p.m. at MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, where her services will be held Monday at 11 a.m.. Her pastor, the Rev. Jefferson Ellis, of the Hanover Presbyterian Church will officate.

She will be laid to rest in the Hopewell Hebron Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Good Samaritan Hospice for the loving care and compassion o their beloved wife and mother.

 

Mary Rose Strouss

MARY ROSE STROUSS, 89, of Imperial (Findlay Twp), died peacefully in the comfort of her home, Thursday evening, October 17, 2013, with her family at her side.

Born January 16, 1924, in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Seibert) Shaffer.  A homemaker and a farmer working along side her late husband on the family farm, she was a longtime member of the Hebron Presbyterian Church and a member of Hebron’s Women’s Association.  She was also a member of the Raccoon Women’s Club and the Findlay Twp. Senior Citizens Group.

She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Earl “Rusty” Strouss, who died January 15, 2008; a daughter, Mary Rose Johnson, who died May 5, 2002; a brother, John Shaffer; a sister and brother-in-law, Thressa and Don Campbell; and a brother-in-law, Joe Tesla.

Surviving are a daughter, Ginny (Randy Jedrzejewski) Strouss; a son-in-law, Bucky Johnson; a brother, Frank (Helen) Shaffer; a sister-in-law, Deloris Shaffer; two sisters, Ella Tesla and Alice (Bob) Purdy; five grandchildren, Marcia, Dave, Debbie, and Mike Johnson, and Tiffany Burns; eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to call Sunday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton.  Everyone is asked to meet at the Hebron Presbyterian Church, Route 30, Clinton, on Monday where her services will be held at 4 p.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Cinda Isler, will officiate.

She will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Hopewell Hebron Cemetery.

Memorials in her name can be made to the Hebron Presbyterian Church, Clinton.

Mary Shay Cain

MARY SHAY CAIN, 84, of Clinton, died Friday afternoon, September 13, 2013 at her residence.

She was the beloved mother of Betty Cain, Barb Cain, and Raleigh (Renee) Cain; sister of Ruth Lombardo, Nancy Weidner, Grace Perri, and the late Marvin and Roy Cain, Lois Starr, Gladys Junker and Melba Cox; grandmother of Gabriel, Ian, and Joshua Cain.

Friends are welcome to attend her memorial service on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Clinton Wesleyan Church.

Doris M. Kuzio

DORIS M. KUZIO, 85, formerly of Clinton, died Saturday morning, September 7, 2013 at Fox’s Stone Pear Pavillion, Chester, W.V..

Born July 1, 1928 in Red Ash, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Myrtle (Ball) Justice.

A homemaker, Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Andrew and Donna Kuzio of Hookstown, PA, and Pam & Rob Milligan of Cleveland, Georgia; a brother Alfred and his late wife Rose Justice of Michigan.  Her 4 grandchildren are Laura Milligan, Chris and his wife Megan Milligan, Jessica and her husband Daniel Ancheta, and Zak and his wife Sarah Kuzio.  Also surviving are 2 great grandchildren, Rebekah and Ramsey Milligan.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband Andrew (Dick) Kuzio in 1992, a brother and sister-in-law Kermit and Dottie Justice, and 2 sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and Steve Kuzio, and Phyllis and Glen Cordle.

Friends are welcome to call at the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

Patricia D. (Myers) Rider

PATRICIA D. (MYERS) RIDER, 74, of Moon Twp., passed away on Saturday morning, September 7, 2013 in the Good Samarian Hospice, Beaver.

Born in Uniontown, on Feb. 7, 1939, she was the only child of the late Lloyd W. and Beatrice E. (Woods) Myers.  A homemaker, Mrs. Rider was a former cafeteria worker for the Moon School District, was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she enjoyed cooking, quilting and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Philip Rider, on Oct. 18, 2012.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Timothy R. (Mary Ann) Rider, Georgetown; Barry W. (Eilene) Rider, Raccoon Township;  and Randy (Tracy) Rider, Moon Township; seven grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Melissa Rider; Rachael and her husband, Jeremy Seibel; Jason Rider, Christine Rider, Zeke and his wife, Gina Rider; Zach and his wife, Rachael Rider and Nicholas Rider.  Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Maylee and Jaxson.

Friends received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Cinda Isler of the Hebron Presbyterian Church, officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired,  may be made, in her name, to the American Heart Association.

Richard T. Adams

RICHARD T. ADAMS, 77, of Clinton, formerly of Roanoke, VA., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, August 23, 2013.

Born April 22, 1936 – Beloved father of Doug (Melissa) Adams of Moon and Christine (Vince) Kocuba of Clinton; beloved grandfather of Alicia and Tia Eberhardt, and Brendan Adams. Also survived by his mother, Grace Adams; four brothers and 2 sisters.

He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Services were private and entrusted to Moody Funeral Home.
