Brett M. Pargeon

BRETT M. PARGEON, age 57, died at his home on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

Funeral arrangements will be private.

Douglas Robert Jurich

DOUGLAS ROBERT JURICH, age 73, of Oakdale (North Fayette Twp.) died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 9, 2017.

He was the son of the late Lazo and Marie (Mizer) Jurich.  He was also preceded in death by his infant twin sister, Helen Yvonne Jurich; and brother, Ron Jurich.

Surviving are his former wife and friend, Teresa Jurich; his children and their spouses, James (Erica) Patterson, Vanessa Chaika, Jamie (Tony) Proctor, Erin Jurich, and Antonia (Brook) Carter; granddaughter, Christy Patterson; a sister and her husband, Marie (Butch) Wissinger.  He was also the beloved grandfather of nine.

A Blessing Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, followed by visitation until 4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m..

Patricia R. Carter

PATRICIA R. CARTER, 55, of Clinton (Hanover Twp.), died Saturday evening, June 24, 2017, at Heritage Valley Sewickley.

Born April 12, 1962, in Rochester, a daughter of the late George W. and Mary (Ayres) Hewlett, she was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church, Colliers, West Virginia.

Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Martin L. Carter, whom she married May 4, 1985; beloved mother of Geordyn Carter and his companion, Amy Bradford, Monaca; sister of George W. Hewlett, Jr., Wellsburg, W. VA., and Rebecca D. and Christopher Whitehill and their children, Riley and Evan, Clinton; a special little girl, Khloe Bradford and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. where a service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.  Her pastor, Larry Garrison of Open Door Baptist Church will officiate.

Sara W. Chernik

SARA W. CHERNIK, age 93, formerly of Imperial, died Sunday, June 11, 2017.

She was the wife of the late John Chernik; beloved mother of Rose Marie Peterman and her late husband, John, and Joe Chernik and his late wife, Debora; sister of the late John Teller and Helen Fornara; grandmother of six; great-grandmother of five.

Friends will be received in the Moody Funeral Home, Route 30, Clinton, Thursday from 4-8 p.m. where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m..  Interment will follow in the Valley Cemetery, Imperial.

John P. Yarmeak

JOHN P. YARMEAK, age 25, of Moon Twp., died suddenly on Thursday afternoon, May 11, 2017.

He was the beloved son of Gary J. Yarmeak of Clinton, and Susan J. Yarmeak of Moon Twp.; and a dear grandson of Mary Bennett of Bethel Park. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Friends are welcome to attend his memorial service Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton.

Robert L. Cain

ROBERT L. CAIN, 85, of Gallatin, Tennessee died Saturday morning, May 6, 2017, in the comfort of his home.

Born July 3, 1931, in Clinton, a son of the late Albert L. and Lena (Kinney) Cain, he was a retired mechanical engineer.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving, during the Korean Conflict, and had attended various Nazarene churches since 1962.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, James, and George Cain.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Arlene (Wherry) Cain, whom he married June 21, 1958; father of Barbara and her husband Mark Smith, Beverly Cain, and Stephen and his wife Lucy Cain; brother of Esther Baun; and grandfather of Allison Smith Treasure, Randall Smith, Robert F. Cain, and Catherine Cain.

Friends may call in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME Route 30, Clinton, Friday from 4-8 p.m. only where services will be held Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul Treese, of the Pleasant Hill Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating.

He will be laid to rest in the Clinton U.P. Church Cemetery.

 

Lisa Marie Swanson

LISA MARIE SWANSON, 42, of Oakdale (North Fayette Twp.) died Monday evening, April 10, 2017, in UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born, April 3, 1975, in Washington, PA she was the beloved daughter of Thomas L. and his fiancee, Daisy Torrence of Hookstown, and Kathryn M. Torrence of Oakdale. In addition to being a homemaker, she had worked at the Cutie Patutie Day Care Center in Imperial as a children’s day care worker.

She was the beloved wife of 12 years to Erik L. Swanson, whom she married September 18, 2004; cherished mother of her son, Gavin Swanson and her daughter, Jordan Swanson, both at home; and a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Harry Hampson, Shippingport. She was the daughter-in-law of Sue Swanson of Belle Vernon and the late Harry Swanson, Sr., and sister-in-law of Harry and Laura Swanson of Monongahela, and Daryl Swanson of California.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Moody Funeral Home, Route 30, Clinton, PA where a service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski, of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Hookstown.

Dolores K. ‘Tinie’ McElhaney

DOLORES K. ‘TINIE’ McELHANEY,, 87, formerly of Clinton, died Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, in Fox’s Stone Pear Pavilion, Chester, West Virginia.

Born July 26, 1929, in West Aliquippa, she was the last surviving child born to the late Frank and Mary B. (Probilsky) Kolavic. A homemaker, Dolores, along with her late husband, Leon, were the former owners and operators of Clinton Lake and Clinton Bowling Alley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon G. McElhaney, Sr., on November 27, 1990, and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Sanders.

Surviving are her children, Leon G., Jr., and Barbara McElhaney, Anthony McElhaney, Frank J. and Margie McElhaney, and Mary Leah and Bill Clark. She was the grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 16.

Friends will be received Friday from 6-8 pm only in the Moody Funeral Home, Route 30, Clinton, where services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am with the Rev. Jefferson Ellis, of the Hanover Presbyterian Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials in her name, if desired, may be made to one’s favorite charity.

Mary Lou McConnell

MARY LOU McCONNELL, 89, of Clinton, died peacefully on Saturday morning, February 18, 2017, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, with her children at her side.

Born July 2, 1927, in Imperial, PA., she was the last surviving child born to the late Joseph and Catherine (Belgie) Naman. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Clinton United Presbyterian Church.

She is the beloved wife of 66 years to Wilson D. McConnell, Jr., whom she married July 3, 1950.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert D. McConnell and Wilson D. McConnell III, and one brother and one sister.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joy A. and Ray Messner, Tennessee; Darla L. and Barry (Moats) Messner, Clinton; James W. McConnell, Clinton; Jack J. McConnell, Clinton; and Lisa M. and Lee McDowell, Clinton; a daughter-in-law Judy McConnell, Hopewell Twp.: a sister-in-law Bonnie Doumont, Florida; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Everyone is asked to meet at the Clinton United Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 where her services will be held at 11 a.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Laura Strauss officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Clinton United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Clinton United Presbyterian Church, PO Box 175, Clinton. PA 15026.

Teresa J. Smith

TERESA J. SMITH, age 90, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Anne Home, 685 Angela Dr., Greensburg, PA.

Born March 22, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of Giovannina (Conte) and Isodoro TaFuri.

A Memorial Service at a later date at St. Columbkille Church is being arranged by her son, James Smith.
