Merna Faye Riley

Merna Faye Riley, 81, of Clinton (Independence Twp.) passed Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026 at the East Liverpool City Hospital. Born on March 29, 1945 in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late David Clair and Florence Viola (Jumper) Hughes. A homemaker, Merna was a devout member of the Clinton Wesleyan Church. She was also a member of the Gold Star Wives Club and the Beaver County Best Friends, and she was an avid animal lover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Phillip Riley and her companion, Richard A. Speer; her son Phillip David Riley, grandson Phillip David Goodwin; son-in-law John A. Goodwin IV, brother-in-law Pete Marchionda, and niece Deborah Marchionda.

She is survived by her children, David & Patty Grega, Patricia Goodwin, Sandra & Taco Deguel, Betty Ann Delp, and Patrick & Emily Riley; and her sister Donna Marchionda. She was the grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 5.

Friends will be received at the Moody Funeral Home on Friday, September 25th, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Her funeral service will be held Saturday the 26th at 11 am in the Clinton Wesleyan Church, 1022 Clinton Rd., Clinton, PA 15026. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Her pastor, the Rev. Ted Chapman will officiate with Rev. Dan Oravetz assisting. She will be laid to rest in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.
