Edward F. Dillon III

EDWARD F. DILLON III, 73, of Hanover Township passed away March 24th at the VA Hospital after a brief illness.

Ed served honorably in the U. S. Army for 24 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He received numerous awards and decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal. His service included tours of duty in Germany, South Korea, West Point, and the Pentagon. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was past Commander of Center Twp. VFW Post 1821. Ed truly felt it was his calling to be a soldier, and his greatest honor in life was leading, mentoring, and serving his country with his fellow soldiers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. Dillon Jr. and Lucia (Lawrence) Dillon, both of Seabright, NJ.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ellen (Hozak) Dillon; his sister Cynthia Dillon of The Villages, FL.; Brothers-in-law Martin (Amy Mitko) Hozak, Neal (Kelly) Hozak; nephews and niece, Blake Hozak, Jarred Hozak, Regan Hozak, Garrett Mitko, and Alex Mitko.

Visitation is Sun., March 30th from 2-6 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Clinton. There will be a brief service Monday at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home and full military honors will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel To Towers or The Fisher House.
