Herman H. ‘Honk’ Thomas
HERMAN H. ‘HONK’ THOMAS, 75, of Aliquippa (Raccoon Twp.), died Thursday afternoon, February 20, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.
Born May 15, 1942, in Sewickley, he was the son of the late George W. Sr. and Marjorie A. (Reddinger) Thomas. Herman was retired from Wet Allegheny School District, having worked in the maintenance department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict, and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor bestowed by Boy Scouts of America. He was also honored by the West Allegheny School District for his work with children. He was a member of Mount Pleasant EPC, Aliquippa.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Thomas, Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Carol J. (Hughes) Thomas, whom he married July 22, 1967; his sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark W. and Lori Ann Thomas, Clinton, and Michael S. Thomas, Hookstown, and a sister and brother-in-law, Karen L. and Larry Auten, Imperial. He was the beloved grandfather of four.
Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Moody Funeral Home, Route 30, Clinton. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Mount Pleasant EPC, 846 Route 18, Aliquippa, PA 15001, where his services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. His pastor, the Rev. Richard Herbster, will officiate.
He will be laid to rest in the Clinton United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
