JAMES J. MICHELS SR., 77, of Clinton, died Tuesday morning, August 7, 2018, at his Clinton residence.

Born October 14, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Vernon and Mary (Harrison) Michels. He worked as a manger with Local 23, working in different grocery stores, and was a member of St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, Imperial.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Mudge) Michels, on September 9, 2009; a son, James J. Michels Jr., on August 10, 2017, and a brother-in-law, William Dacoros.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra and John Kish, Clinton, and Joyce Coffman and her companion Rick Strayer, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Michels, McClellandtown; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond (Connie) Michels, Texas; a sister, Margaret Dacoros, Brookline; three grandchildren, Laura, Karen, and Duncan, and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, where a blessing service will be held at 6 p.m. with Father Paul Merkovsky, of St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, Imperial, officiating. An additional visitation will follow until 8 p.m.

Cremation will take place and burial will follow.
