Meryl Mae Hatton

4/15/1951 – 5/27/2025

Momma Hatton officially gained her angel wings and was finally reunited with her late husband May 27, 2025 surrounded by her family, friends, and forever faithful dog, Fluffy.

Meryl my girl was born 4/15/1951 to Arch and Anna (Sandig) Watt. Her brothers and sisters were always a hoot when they were together. Anna (Joe) Egan, Patty (Bob) White, Barbara (Jim) Hickey, Art (Patrice) Watt, Thelma (Steve) Groom and Mal (Bonnie) Watt, who met her at the pearly gates. She had so many beautiful nieces and nephews that touched her life and filled her heart with joy.

In 1978 she married the love of her life, John Hatton. Unfortunately, she lost him in 1986.

Heavily involved in politics, Meryl was undoubtedly a crucial asset to the Republican Party. In fact, she was always known as the Queen and had the crown to prove it. From previously serving as the Pennsylvania Federation of Republican Women’s president, serving as the chair for the Findlay Township Republican Committee for many years, and most recently starting and serving as the Chair for the North Fayette Republican Committee. She loved every moment of it and met so many incredible people that always held a special place in her heart!

Meryl spent countless hours of her life serving the community. She took care of many children and elderly in the area, assisted the Clinton Christmas Light Up with her friends Patty and Lloyd Faux, served as an officer on the board for both the WAYFL and the FAA, but her favorite past time was serving as a cheerleading coach at West Allegheny. It was the most rewarding time of her life. Being around children always made her heart smile.

Let’s face it, when you saw Meryl, she always had the most beautiful smile on her face and gave you a big hug…THEN went on bragging about her kids and grandkids, JR and Lisa Hatton, Vicki Hatton Bozic and her boyfriend, Ken Buckley, and the absolute lights of her life JC Bozic, Tyler Hatton and of course her Allie-Cat (Allison Hatton).

Let’s not forget her bonus sons, John (Leslie) Hall and John (Karen) Hatton and bonus grandkids, Kylie, Natalie, Kenny, Cory, Ryan, Ivy, and Lily.

Sometimes you would catch her misbehaving with her friends, Mel Ostach and her “Golden Girls” Denise Geramita, Shelly Miller, and Debbie Zeto.

While her kids and grandkids are listed, let’s face it, Meryl had so many children and grandchildren that are by love not blood. Including but not limited to the Westbury Crew, her Redwood and SNPJ family, the 1997-2000 West Allegheny Football team, Cheerleaders, and Marching Band, and of course the 2024 WA Marching Pride and Show Choir that gave her the time of her life!

A Memorial Service will be June 22, 2025 from 2-4 at her son’s new place, The Mousetrap, 9212 Steubenville Pike, Bulger, PA. 15019.

In lieu of flowers, Momma Hatton would like contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, in remembrance of her late husband and love of her life, John Hatton.
